Celebrate the 2026 New Year at Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, Washington, where the first concert of the year took place on January 1, buzzing with energy as entertainment spots around Galaxy attract crowds of locals from Canada, Portland, and Seattle to mark the arrival of the New Year.
Celebrate the arrival of 2026 at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort with an all-out New Year’s party featuring headline performances from Châu Khải Phong, Nguyen Hong Nhung, Lam Nhat Tien, Truc Linh, Truc Lam, Quynh Vi, Huy Vu, Son Tuyen, DJ Thy Ngan, and The Galaxy Band.
Unlike Tết, the New Year (January 1st) does not revolve around ancestral worship, family reunions, or agricultural cycles. Its importance in Vietnamese life is modern, symbolic, and social, not spiritual.
For most Vietnamese households, January 1st does not replace Tết. There is no obligation to return to hometowns, no altar rituals, and no need for new clothes or lucky money. Instead, it’s an opportunity to unwind, meet new people, attend public events, or simply sleep in after a long year.
In Vietnam, the New Year is celebrated without obligation, making it more joyful for travelers than Tết.
One interesting aspect of the New Year 2026 is that many Vietnamese do not even use the term “New Year” in their regular discussion. They typically pronounce “Tết Tây” (Western New Year) to distinguish it from Tết.
Lastly, January 1st is more about social connection and a chance to get together without the burden of tradition for a lot of young Vietnamese people than it is about the calendar.
The night’s climax was the all-out New Year’s party, which featured headline performances by a sensational lineup of Vietnamese artists. The performers include Châu Khải Phong, Nguyen Hong Nhung, Lam Nhat Tien, Truc Linh, Truc Lam, Quynh Vi, Huy Vu, and Son Tuyen. Their soulful and lively performances really wowed the crowd.
I received a lot of texts from people who said they were enjoying the concert and did not want it to end.
I could feel a wave of reluctance wash over the crowd as the music ended. People around me were texting their friends to tell them how much they loved the concert and how they didn’t want it to end. It looked like everyone in the room felt the same way.
