Dior has removed a portrait of Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, Miss Grand International 2021, from their social media platforms, only one month after designating her a “Friend of the House.”
The image, shared initially after Tien’s appearance at Dior’s Paris Fashion Week show on March 5, was removed on Monday, shortly after her official association with the brand began.
Ngoi Sao Newspaper contacted Dior Vietnam but received no response regarding the removal of Tien’s photographs.
The move comes amid Tien’s ongoing dispute over alleged deceptive advertising. In December 2024, she revealed a fiber supplement collaboration with online stars Pham Quang Linh and Nguyen Thi Thai Hang, dubbed Kera Supergreens Gummies. Tien advertised the product on her Facebook page, which has over 2.6 million followers, claiming that “a gummy contains a dish’s worth of vegetables,” presenting it as a healthy snack for both children and adults.
However, a buyer discovered differences between the listed ingredients and the product’s real content after testing it at the Quality Assurance and Testing Center 2. The findings revealed that the full 30-gummy box had only 0.51 grams of fiber, significantly less than stated, resulting in a public reaction. Tien responded by removing the related posts from her Facebook profile.
The Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department later revealed the findings of a product test for Kera Supergreens Gummies, which was undertaken at the request of the Ministry of Health’s Food Safety Department. The test verified that the amounts of sugar, protein, fat, and calorie content were compatible with the product’s official self-declaration, but the fiber content was not mentioned on the label, despite the product being marketed as a fiber supplement. Authorities denied that the goods were “counterfeit.”
Following the investigation, Tien, Linh, and Hang were brought in for questioning, where they admitted to supplying incorrect product information. Linh and Hang were each fined VND140 million (US$5,426) for misleading advertising, while Tien was fined VND25 million for failing to declare that her product-related social media posts were sponsored, a violation of advertising regulations.
The Dak Lak Provincial Police then announced that Tien had been temporarily banned from leaving Vietnam from March 15 to May 15 as part of the ongoing investigation.
At 26, Tien made history as the first Vietnamese contestant to win the Miss Grand International title.
