Vietnamese rappers are gaining popularity by fusing rap with other genres and writing lyrics that are kinder and lack the negativity that rap is known for.
The finale of Rap Viet, a TV reality show that aims to find great rappers drew nearly 1.2 million viewers on November 14, a new high for an entertainment show.
Ricky Star‘s rendition of ‘Bac Kim Thang’ is one of the most popular on the show’s YouTube channel. The rap version was inspired by a popular Mekong Delta folk song and was an instant hit.
“I never thought I’d like rap music, but this mix of rap and classical music is fantastic,” one individual said.
Rap Viet has almost two million subscribers on Youtube, and several of his videos have millions of views.
Ricky Star, 26, isn’t the only one attempting to modernize rap.

Ricky Star, a rapper, has officially introduced the song “Nghẹn”. With the theme of love as the central focus. “Nghẹn” gives listeners the perspective of a broken relationship, in which the boy believes the girl will regret leaving the person she loves.
In terms of the melody, I believe it is Ricky Star’s most distinctive feature in the song. In addition, he was involved in the mixing and mastering of “Nghẹn”.
Of course, a more invested product with more MVs would be fantastic, and it appears that a fan is also saddened this time.
However, because all artistic efforts are experiencing common challenges as a result of the translation situation, the MV is unlikely to be completed. And I believe that in the not-too-distant future when things begin to settle down, Ricky Star will make the decision to release a song with complete graphics and sound to gratify his fans.
