On September 23, Bamboo Airways will begin operating direct flights between Vietnam and the United States.
Following regulatory approval, Vietnamese carrier Bamboo Airways is slated to begin operating direct charter flights to the US West Coast on September 23.
According to the airline’s Facebook page, it has been given permission to operate 12 direct flights from Vietnam through November.
It plans to fly to destinations such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle from Hanoi as well as Da Nang.
The flights will be the first direct flights between the United States and Vietnam and would be operated by Bamboo’s Boeing 787-9s.
FlightGlobal earlier reported in June that the carrier was planning North American charters for late June or July, but plans had to be postponed due to the following wave of coronavirus infections in Vietnam.
Bamboo said in June that the United States was a “promising market” because of the country’s large Vietnamese diaspora.
“Moreover, US-Vietnam trade is being heavily promoted, which will result in increased demand for travel and trade exchanges,” the carrier told FlightGlobal.
Bamboo Airways has a fleet of three 787-9s, with just one in service, according to Cirium fleets data. Another ten models have been ordered by the carrier.
