A study from the home services comparison site InMyArea.com rated Bothell as the best city in Washington for working from home. The study, released this month, looked at the affordability and internet access of cities across the country.
According to InMyArea, 99.6% of Bothell residents have access to basic wired internet, while 98.9% have access to high-speed wired internet. The study used Numbeo for housing, rent, and cost of living numbers. Number lists the average one-bedroom apartment rent in Bothell as $1,600.
Despite taking the top spot for the state of Washington, Bothell didn’t crack the top 10 for cities of its size. Morristown, Tennessee, and Parkersburg, West Virginia, were rated first and second, respectively, for medium-sized cities.
Elsewhere in Washington, Eastsound, on Orcas Island, came in fourth nationally for extra-small cities. The study found 85.6% of Eastsound residents have access to basic wired internet, compared with 74.2% for high-speed wired internet. The average one-bedroom apartment rent in Eastsound is $1,250, according to Numbeo. Seward, Alaska, came in first for extra-small cities.
InMyArea counted large cities as those with 100,000 or more residents, medium cities as those with between 20,000 and 99,999, small cities as those with 5,000 to 19,999, and extra-small cities as those with less than 5,000. Seattle failed to make the top 10 for large cities. San Antonio, Dallas, and Philadelphia took the first through third spots, respectively.
Newport Beach, California-based InMyArea defined high-speed internet as 500 megabits per second download and 25 Mbps upload speeds. The company counted basic internet as at least 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload speeds, and internet-only residential plans had to cost no more than $60 to be considered affordable.
According to the report, the growing number of people working from home could create new priorities when choosing where to live.
“One positive aspect of this transformation is that workers may have more freedom to move, and as our analysis indicates, there are cities large and small all across the country that would be excellent options for remote workers,” the report read.

A round of applause for your blog post.Really thank you! Keep writing.
I’ve been surfing online greater than 3 hours these days, yet I by no means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all web owners and bloggers made just right content material as you did, the internet can be much more useful than ever before. “Perfection of moral virtue does not wholly take away the passions, but regulates them.” by Saint Thomas Aquinas.
