LISTEN: VIETNAM’S INDIE MUSIC OF THE MONTH

Despite the overwhelming dominance of overly produced artists, their coverage in mass media and the resulting homogeny of sound, lurking beneath remains a bredth of independent talent in this country.
Led by a new generation in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, YouTube and SoundCloud accounts continue to provide a fertile field for amateur musicians and producers to launch new sounds on a thirsty public.
In the past month, prominent names from the local indie music such as Huy Le, Ngot and Hai Sam, have released new music for their fans. Here’s some highlights below:
